An ongoing body of conceptual and ritual artworks inspired by recurring dreams, symbolic memory, and the unseen patterns that shape human experience.

Solo Exhibition · Budapest Artineris

The Architecture of Self-Betrayal

Five sculptures. One question asked five different ways: where does a woman first leave her own life.

Saturday, September 26th · Stex House · József krt. 55-57, 1085 Budapest · Free entry · 12–8pm

Working with brass, rope, wood, textiles, beads, and found materials, each sculpture translates an invisible psychological landscape into physical form. Every work begins with a dream. The sculptures translate its symbolic architecture into a contemporary ritual object, inviting reflection, interpretation, and dialogue.

Two works in this collection exist in two forms — a Linen Edition and a later Carved Edition, built months apart in different materials. Each is its own one-of-one original.

Artist Statement

The Dreams Collection explores the meeting point of dream, ritual, and material memory.

Each sculpture begins with an experience that resists language and becomes an object through repetition, handcraft, and symbolic form. The materials — brass, rope, velvet, beads, linen — are not chosen decoratively. Each one is chosen because it holds a specific symbolic weight that corresponds to the invisible structure being translated into physical form.

The works invite viewers to encounter their own meanings through observation and presence.

The collection is ongoing. Each new work emerges from the same process: a dream, a pattern within it, and the slow labour of translating that pattern into a physical object that can be lived with.

Obianuju Tóth

Nigerian-born, Hungary-based conceptual and ritual artist. Her interdisciplinary practice explores identity, symbolic memory, dreams, and transformation through sculpture, installation, writing, music, and performance. Based in Budapest.
